Promote the resources of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to your faculty and students! NLM is part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and produces such resources as PubMed/MEDLINE and MedlinePlus, an outstanding resource to use when seeking information about health topics or prescription drugs. MedlinePlus includes health information in both English and Spanish. Since these resources are government funded, they are FREE to use on the Internet and require no registration. Through the outreach and training program of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Southwest Region (http://nnlm.gov/psr), several one or two-hour workshops, such as "Introduction to PubMed" are available to your library’s clientele. The goal of the sessions is to increase awareness and knowledge of using the resources through lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice activity. Training services are also free of charge. Additional information about available workshops is located on our web page at: http://nnlm.gov/psr/training/classes.html. Two PubMed workshops were recently conducted for faculty and librarians at Shasta College, and the reviews were very positive! If you or faculty at your institution would be interested in hosting workshop sessions, please contact me. I would also be happy to answer any questions you have about our organization or training program.
Thank you.
